1canpara Posted September 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2020 Looking for a little info and guidance on this particular holster. I’ve figured out that it’s for a Victory revolver and that’s about it. It obviously has been cut down by an inch or so, and the wire pistol belt attachment is missing, but the top where the wire attachment goes isn’t cut. It appears to be in excellent almost unissued condition. Is this maker a rare one? I’ve seen the value of similar holsters range from low to quite high, so any info on scarcity or value would be appreciated! Thanks all!
OLDNAVYNUKESPOOK Posted September 7, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2020 6/43 15,980 produced by Craighead @ $1.14/ea. for S&W Victory 2", 4" and 6" barrels. This one does look as though it's been cut down for a 2" using a later type rivet.
silverplate Posted September 7, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2020 The Craighead holster for the Victory .38 Special is indeed a rare and desirable holster. I've collected three different holsters for the Victory revolvers and examples in any condition were the most difficult to find. Yours is indeed in great shape. I've included photos of mine showing the unaltered length, so yours looks like only a small amount of material was removed. No telling when the pistol belt hanger was removed, but you could probably reinstall one if you wanted. Here are photos of my example for comparison. The last photo shows the three examples of holsters in my collection. The shoulder holster and Victory revolver are both U.S. Navy marked.
