m1a2u2 Posted November 8, 2021 Share #276 Posted November 8, 2021 Is post-war ERDL allowed?🙂 Anyone have an idea of a date on this? I'm thinking mid to late 70s. Picked it up today for almost nothing.

FY77 contract so production was around then give or take, the Special Forces Tab was introduced in 1983 so it was probably worn before then although its not impossible for someone to be in a Special Forces unit without being SF qualified (for example support roles). anelles Posted December 3, 2021 Share #281 Posted December 3, 2021 This is probably my favorite piece of ERDL in my collection. Kammo-Man helped ID this in a thread here several years back. It's an ERDL hunting shirt, but with in-country modifications and patches. The lower pockets were removed, and new pockets resembling the ARVN shirts were added. I'm guessing this dates around 1970-1973 since the 1st Sustainment Command (seen here with a Tay Ninh tab) was merged into USARV in 1970. This came paired with a matching jungle jacket. Chim Chim the Diminutive Posted January 15, 2022 Share #285 Posted January 15, 2022 I found this ERDL jacket today. I travel all over the country, and I have encountered ERDL is North Alabama more than any other place. I don't know why, maybe just because military service is very common among citizens of the area. earlymb Posted January 15, 2022 Share #286 Posted January 15, 2022 I came across this pic that shows Ranger scrolls on ERDL in Vietnam, both sewn on and directly embroidered. Pretty neat I thought :)

Bryant U. Posted January 16, 2022 Share #288 Posted January 16, 2022 Nicely modified 1968 dated ERDL jacket with Ranger tab. The cuff adjustment tabs were turned into epaulettes. I’m leaning towards this being used by an ARVN Ranger advisor.

I got a few other pieces from this seller and it seems like they all belonged to the same family member. All I know about him is that he was in the 821st CSPS and the last name is Williams Hope this info helps, Noah
Bryant U. Posted January 16, 2022 Share #291 Posted January 16, 2022 Noah, thank you. I did see the other items from the seller. I don’t think this fits the bill belonging to the same guy though, modded and with a Ranger tab. Seller had some unrelated militaria for sale as well so I think it just ended up in the mix. Is there a name anywhere in it? Both of the ERDL pants that I picked up from the seller had these markings
Bryant U. Posted January 17, 2022 Share #293 Posted January 17, 2022 Noah, it does have this marking in it. B

FT.Monmouth1943 Posted January 17, 2022 Share #295 Posted January 17, 2022 Definitely belonged to the same airman. Lots of members of the 821st CSPC went to Ranger school as part of their training and there are photos of them wearing ranger tabs. - Jakob

beefheart Posted February 4, 2022 Share #297 Posted February 4, 2022 Hi, sharing my ERDL that i got a while ago. Sadly the name tape is gone, but overall it’s a killer for me. All theater made patches. -Japanese machine embroidered 23rd ID, or known as “Americal” -Vietnamese machine embroidered 101st Airborne Division and US Army tape. -Vietnamese hand embroidered full color CIB. Jacket its dated 1968, overall in a pretty good shape.
River Patrol Posted March 26, 2022 Share #298 Posted March 26, 2022 Didn't see any Navy taped ERDLs, so I'm adding one (my only one) with odd machine color and '69 date.
Cpl. Punishment Posted March 26, 2022 Share #299 Posted March 26, 2022 Here is a set I just got. It is named to a man who was 377th SPS from March 1972 until March 1973. His first dog’s name was Alf but Alf “could not do the job” and had to be put down. His next dog was Duke. This was this gentleman’s second tour. His first tour was with the security forces from 1969-1970.
Ryan Reese Posted April 9, 2022 Share #300 Posted April 9, 2022 I’m having a good time finding ERDL tops. I got all of these for $5 each at different places.
