That’s an awesome Cammo cover !
It took me at least 20 years hunting to find one but yours tops that all day long !
How did you find it ?

Owen, it came directly from the veteran along with a set of his camo utilities.  He signed the inside of the cover for me.

Here are his jungle utilities... he had them made in-country with a few changes from  standard issues.

Fantastic fresh posted Cammo’s today !
There’s some really nice pieces out there.

The daisy dukes are pretty special with the jacket would be quite the set ‘

Bobs shows a clown jacket.
Clown jacket or pants is when a garment is made using different lots and prints of the same pattern mixed into a garment.
To a factory all Cammo was just Cammo.
The Germans started this process and the Americans followed with it creating some of the most unique and unusual garments of the war.
Why clown ?
Clowns typically wear garments made from different panels of cloth to make tramp type distracting suits to fool a raging bull in the ring while waving scarfs if a cowboy hits the deck.

D
Epic all round.

Deadstock 1968 jacket , appears to be 100% unworn with patches attached from in country. The patches seems to have been a bugs lunch or rotted away.

custom made BDQ ERDL shirt in Large US size ( 44/46 inch chest ). The camera really wipes the colours out so I've taken an indoor photo.  I picked this up from a vintage shop in France.

An everyday shirt made from helmet cover fabric , unbranded but a very cool item

These were sold in the early 80's in Barney's mens shop, and I am sure other shops too.

USAF Advisors uniform on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton Ohio.

Caption: Uniform worn by Colonel William J. Fulton in the late 1960's.  He was a USAF FAC from the 19th  TASS assigned to the elite South Vietnamese Airborne Brigade headquartered at Tan Son Nhut AB.  To avoid standing out and becoming a target for snipers, these FACs - call sign Red Maker - wore the Vietnamese uniform but with USAF insignia.

Fantastic thread already. Thanks for kicking it off, Owen.

Thanks Tim.
It was time !!

More stellar pieces posted.

I have several that the letters worn off.
Some thread just didn’t hold up throughout the years unfortunately.

That 13 beret is sublime.

My friend Ethan sold me this shirt 10 plus years ago.
It’s Arvn cut.
Us cloth.
The Lt rank typically Viet made.
The Arvn and US jump wings Viet hand made in the earlier poplin erdl strike cloth.
It’s one of my benchmark pieces in my collection.

I was going though a Green berets magazine and seen a 69 photo of an Lt wearing the same shirt so I added a wartime pocket hanger for home display.

Here’s one that belonged to a vet who did two tours in Vietnam. I also have his ERDL pants, jungle boots, uniform, and other misc items from him. Both tapes are removed, it has a US made 101st AB patch and Vietnamese made “RAIDER FORCE” tab, and a Vietnamese tailored shooting pad. The jacket is salty, just the way I like them.

From the estate of a USMC Sgt Major, I found two large photos of senior Marine officers wearing ERDL in Vietnam.

The first one is Brigadier General Edwin Howard Simmons, a combat Marine who was also a Corps historian. wikipedia notes: "He served as Assistant Division Commander, 1st Marine Division (Rein), Vietnam, returning stateside in  July 1971, and  became special assistant to the chief of staff for strategic studies. On December 1, 1971, he assumed duties as director of Marine Corps History and Museums. He went on the retired list on July 1, 1972, but continued on active duty without interruption of service as director of Marine Corps History and Museums. On July 1, 1978, he reverted to inactive status on the retired list. In late October 1978, he returned as a Civil Service employee to his previous position as director of Marine Corps History and Museums."

The other one is Colonel Don H. Blanchard and addressed to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion where he was Commanding Officer in 1965. He Signed it 10-16-70 "DH Blanchard Colonel, US Marines Chief of Staff For FMF."

Here’s both Viet and US made together
The combat infantry mans badge is of course the pride of a combat mans service and worn with pride.
This combat shirt has the award proudly displayed in its regulation location.
This shirt is size small short.

I love the font of the R in this one.  That would have given my command conniptions in the late '80s.

Great looking erdl’s!

Here’s another “Brown Water Navy” beret,

owned by a Swift Boat Quartermaster.  He was medivac’d in February 1969 after a mine explosion on the water (PCF-67)

Really nice, the scrolls are unique to certain units like this.

Bob
