It took me at least 20 years hunting to find one but yours tops that all day long ! How did you find it ? Owen, it came directly from the veteran along with a set of his camo utilities. He signed the inside of the cover for me. Here are his jungle utilities... he had them made in-country with a few changes from standard issues. kammo-man Posted August 28, 2020 Author Share #54 Posted August 28, 2020 Fantastic fresh posted Cammo’s today !There’s some really nice pieces out there. The daisy dukes are pretty special with the jacket would be quite the set ‘Bobs shows a clown jacket.Clown jacket or pants is when a garment is made using different lots and prints of the same pattern mixed into a garment. To a factory all Cammo was just Cammo. The Germans started this process and the Americans followed with it creating some of the most unique and unusual garments of the war.Why clown ?Clowns typically wear garments made from different panels of cloth to make tramp type distracting suits to fool a raging bull in the ring while waving scarfs if a cowboy hits the deck.D Epic all round.O Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

FT.Monmouth1943 Posted September 3, 2020 Share #69 Posted September 3, 2020 Here’s one that belonged to a vet who did two tours in Vietnam. I also have his ERDL pants, jungle boots, uniform, and other misc items from him. Both tapes are removed, it has a US made 101st AB patch and Vietnamese made “RAIDER FORCE” tab, and a Vietnamese tailored shooting pad. The jacket is salty, just the way I like them. - Jakob
Bob Hudson Posted September 5, 2020 Share #70 Posted September 5, 2020 From the estate of a USMC Sgt Major, I found two large photos of senior Marine officers wearing ERDL in Vietnam. The first one is Brigadier General Edwin Howard Simmons, a combat Marine who was also a Corps historian. wikipedia notes: "He served as Assistant Division Commander, 1st Marine Division (Rein), Vietnam, returning stateside in July 1971, and became special assistant to the chief of staff for strategic studies. On December 1, 1971, he assumed duties as director of Marine Corps History and Museums. He went on the retired list on July 1, 1972, but continued on active duty without interruption of service as director of Marine Corps History and Museums. On July 1, 1978, he reverted to inactive status on the retired list. In late October 1978, he returned as a Civil Service employee to his previous position as director of Marine Corps History and Museums."
Bob Hudson Posted September 5, 2020 Share #71 Posted September 5, 2020 The other one is Colonel Don H. Blanchard and addressed to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion where he was Commanding Officer in 1965. He Signed it 10-16-70 "DH Blanchard Colonel, US Marines Chief of Staff For FMF."
