I am out of my wheel house when it comes to Airborne stuff.  Did they ever actually make real 505th PIR pocket patches?  If so are they all post WWII?  I have attached a couple scans of the patch I have that is in question.  Any and all info is appreciated.

Thanks

The reference I have says that these machine embroidered on felt 505th PIR pocket patches were made for sale through Boots and Chutes right after the war and sold to veterans.

Vance is totally correct in that the design is a Boots design, but the photographed patch is not a WWII example. The 505th did not officially have a pocket patch in WWII, though I have seen one that looks like a large parachute cap patch with the numbers "505" embroidered below that I was told was made for an officer in Italy during the war. I would call that example unique.
