phil.co1 Posted September 2, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2020 Would like to hear some opinions on this uniform I've just got hold of, real patches? Came with shirt and trousers which has that smell that makes me feel its been hidden away for a long while. Any ideas on number etc in back? Thanks for any imput. Wake1941 Posted September 2, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2020 The number is a laundry stamp. Has the first initial of their last name and last 4 of their serial number. Interesting combination with CBI and airborne command
doyler Posted September 2, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 2, 2020 There is 41 hits for that number on the enlistment site. You may be able to get a closer match if the uniform was sourced close to any of the names shown. http://wwii-enlistment.com/search/?q=L5312&select=laundryNumber&quick-search=
MattS Posted September 3, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2020 Cross reference the names from the laundry mark off wwii-enlistment.com with grave entries (he survived the war) on findagrave.com and https://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/. You're looking for an army corporal who served for at least 3 years and spent at least 2 years overseas.
