I thought this letter deserved a post of its own. It was written by Ernest Nelson

stationed in the Philippines during the last few months of the war..

Its a letter to a friend and former instructor of his William Thomas in Pennsylvania.

Ernie was killed over Luzon in the Philippines a  month later after writing this letter.

His body was never recovered.

I said in the above that William Thomas was a friend of Lt Nelson.

That is incorrect. This letter above is written to William Thomas

who was Lt Nelsons Brother In Law. Friends but related.

Heres a link to William Thomas.

He was a flight instructor.

If you take the time and read Lt Nelsons letter, what he was doing at the time was incredible!

And since he was an officer, his letter is not censored.

If you can blow it up and get through the handwriting, its quite a letter!

Cheers !
