ram957 Posted September 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2020 I’m trying to figure out what this is from, perhaps a B-26 ?
Salvage Sailor Posted September 1, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2020 It could be from a Martin PBM Mariner. They used Wright R-2600 Series Cyclone engines.
phantomfixer Posted September 1, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 1, 2020 pretty cool tag....Here are the prefixes for Martin PNs...I don't see R-xxx , the SN 295 would be for the hood lower panel, not the airframe...no doubt for a military aircraft on the PN list L= any letter so would appear as L- on the list
Swifter Posted September 12, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 12, 2020 It's interesting to see a data plate assigned to a sub-component as small (relatively speaking) as what sounds like a cowling panel. Martin was producing several models in the summer of 41 including the Baltimore, Marauder, Maryland, Mariner. The data plate is likely to have originally been installed on one of those types. P-59A Posted September 25, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 25, 2020 That is a nice data tag. The only Martin tags I have ever found were for the turret on a B-24 crash site I went to.
