Need Help Identifying Service Shoes

Hello all,

I have a pair of shoes that I bought at a surplus store this past weekend that I am trying to identify.  I have posted them in multiple forums and groups without any definitive answers.  I honestly am not sure if they are WWI or even American, but hopefully, some one here can point me in the right direction.  Unfortunately, I can't find any remaining markings on the shoes.  The soles are pretty worn, especially on the heel, where the nails are showing through.  If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.  Thanks for your time.
