MarkM Posted August 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2020 Still working my way through this box lot of military items. So far, everything has been WWII vintage (uniforms, flight suit, duffel bag, garrison cap, etc.) but then I found this very nice pair of boots that from my limited research appear to be jungle boots? Most of what I see are Vietnam era. What do I have? Did they issue these in WWII? Can't read the black printing on the outside of the tongue very well. The sole is stamped "Made in Korea". Any ideas? Thanks again for your help as I am on a BIG learning curve. Mark

MarkLooks like a pair of 3rd pattern waffle soled pair of jungle boots, these were issued in Vietnam around the mid point of the war, and were the first to incorporate the ankle support stitching in the canvas portion of the boot and a steel plate in the sole (spike protection). Not WWII but still a cool find!CFDSent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
Allan H. Posted August 21, 2020 Share #3 Posted August 21, 2020 With the soles marked "Made in Korea," would they be an actual IS issued boot, or are they just surplus store fodder? Jungle boots were still being worn into the 1990's, so these could date way past Vietnam. Allan
doyler Posted August 21, 2020 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2020 These are the Korean made copies and were sold in surplus stores. Theree were / are knock offs with ith the cloth panels in camo flage too I have see.
Concernedfuturedogface Posted August 21, 2020 Share #5 Posted August 21, 2020 Good way of identifying a genuine Vietnam era jungle boot is the "buttcrack" on the heal and the date of production on the top inside edge of the canvas portion, you can also find the company that produced them on underneath the boot (for example the boots shown are 2nd pattern Rosearch-produced).CFDSent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
Longhorn92 Posted August 21, 2020 Share #6 Posted August 21, 2020 I’d agree with Doyler that these are commercial knockoffs.

Sorry to hear they are not military issue but...I'll be needing some more help with the dress uniform soon. Thanks again and God bless!
