Antoon Posted January 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2009 Found this picture on the internet. You can se that one of the soldiers wears a 1st pattern wool ETO jacket. Is this used also by other units than rangers?
Johan Willaert Posted January 18, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2009 The Rangers in general did not wear any of the ETO jackets. A batch of these jackets was issued to the Provisional 29th Ranger Bn, during training in Scotland. It seems from WW2 pictures that most of the BM jackets (both patterns) were issued to Air Force units (9th AAF Engineer Aviation Battalions in particular). You see them in other units from time to time but those are rather exceptions... JOhan

Martin B Posted January 19, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2009 Hello, Might this be the jacket you are reffering to? It is definitely a very rare jacket and very hard to find. They are kind of patterned after the M41 jacket and the British Battledress jacket. All were made by British manufactures and the first allotment mwent to the 29th Division. The balance were give to AAF personnel. I guess that from the looks of things they were traded off to other units as well.
Martin B Posted January 19, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 19, 2009 I guess the tag picture isn't so clear. It reads: JACKETS FIELD Lined Enlisted Men ETO Specification No. U/1180 Size 36R(Broad Aroow Symbol) Breast 36 inches Waist 31 inches The Rego Clothiers Lx 1943 I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy
