CWG,

The stripe looks deliberate and not a drip but it’s poorly done and off center.

I can’t imagine it is.

Im not going to clean anything on the outside and might take a feather duster to the inside.

Smart move, would care to share the story of how you got the liner?

I got the helmet at a local auction that would not ship but for 85.00 I got someone who I had to trust, go get it for me on a bad day with a short window to pick it up.

The auction would not answer any of my calls.

I even left a message that I would pay $100 if they would just drop it off at a shipping store.

The guy who picked it up said the helmet was in the hallway because the auctioneer thought it had a spirit.

Looking back on it I should have asked my guy to question the auctioneer about the original owner but that’s hind sight.

I just want to thank Allaeddin for his help and excellent character as without him I would not have this helmet.

Only found one Abraham Cohen  listed in the VA Death listing

Can't find him on a muster report but if he was part of a beach battalion, can't do a search as the "shore" establishments are not yet indexed.

Thanks Navy but I’m certain that this Cohen was in the army.

Mike found records with a serial number with matching last four for Cohen.

With the name and matching SN it's about as certain as it gets.

As for the dot - wasn't that used in the Pacific Theater because the Japanese used the red cross on white circle helmets as easy targets? I know the Navy had the dots- did the Army in the PTO?

I can’t even find an obituary that matches his.

I spent a lot of time searching paid databases such as newspapers.com and found nothing.
