MWalsh Posted August 27, 2020 Share #5 Posted August 27, 2020 Scott, sometimes MIAs from Vietnam can be a bit difficult to research as the US Govt. had allowed families to basically lock down info which would normally be available to researches via FOIA. Apparently there was so much fraud and people making false claims about MIAs being alive and all, that the military decided to lock records down so people could not obtain info to then use against families. So as a result you may or may not be able to get some things. I would just straight up go for his service record personally.

Frank_Smith Posted August 28, 2020 Share #7 Posted August 28, 2020 Scott - Navy and Marine Corps IDPF's for Vietnam are at the NPRC in St. Louis. Once the Archives reopens, you could get one by going to the center or hiring a independent researcher. Frank

Scott - At this point, I think we are looking at sometime next year. The Archives cancelled all events up to December 31st. It doesn't seem like they are in any hurry or have any incentive to open up their doors to the public. Frank
