P-59A Posted August 11, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2020 I'm working on a deal to get this, but I don't know what it is. It looks like a M716/M762 , but the mounting bar for the hitch slides into the frame when not being towed and the axel is not on leaf springs and it sits to the rear of the frame and is not centered like on the others I have seen on line. P-59A Posted August 11, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted August 11, 2020 All of the otherones I have found on line look like this.
P-59A Posted August 11, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted August 11, 2020 Note how the axel is to the rear and no leaf springs. Also note how the front sits on a swing down bar.
Austringer Posted August 12, 2020 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2020 is it a generator trailer?
P-59A Posted August 12, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted August 12, 2020 57 minutes ago, Austringer said: is it a generator trailer? I was told that a generator was on it, but I can find no photo's of a trailer that looks like it. If you look at the photo that shows the axle you will a see sideways coil springs on a centered axle, but it off sets the wheel axle towards the rear. The other trailers have a centered axle on leaf springs. Then there is the pintle post that scopes into the frame. Nothing else has that. All others have the "A" frame that extends out as seen in the other photo's.
P-59A Posted August 12, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted August 12, 2020 Both tires have a 11 63 date on them if that helps any.
P-59A Posted August 12, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted August 12, 2020 Is this some kind of proto type or some kind of Airborne configuration that had a small production run?

P-59A Posted August 12, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted August 12, 2020 The data tag say's this is US issue. I can find no other trailer with type axle and suspension system.
P-59A Posted August 13, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted August 13, 2020 This is called a V-226/G trailer set. Not many are around and not much is known. They seem to be a USMC item. The link is to the G503 forum of collectors. https://forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?p=1685924#p1685901
P-59A Posted August 21, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted August 21, 2020 I've given it a light sanding and a rattle coat of paint. On the rear bumper I am leaving the USMC as is. I still need to wire this for 12V and rework the the passenger light.
P-59A Posted September 10, 2020 Author Share #12 Posted September 10, 2020 I got the wiring and lights set up. I took it for a roll, but I have more to do.
lambo35 Posted September 18, 2020 Share #13 Posted September 18, 2020 Looks nice! How are you going to use it, mount a generator or ? Chuck
P-59A Posted September 20, 2020 Author Share #14 Posted September 20, 2020 I think I will mount a box 2' high with a top that folds out from the center and braces to the fender to make a table top. It will be a camp trailer. My Sammy just doesn't have the room for all my gear and this trailer is small enough and lite enough to be a camp trailer for the Sammy. P-59A Posted October 14, 2020 Author Share #17 Posted October 14, 2020 Well guys, I am done with this. I mounted the 2' high box and have removable shelves that store to one side of the trailer. I loaded it up with stuff and took a freeway run to see how it handles. It tracks nice and isn't springy. All in all it's what I thought it would be.
