The way that Mr. Skeels put his name on the liner is neat. Can’t wait to see what you find through research. The corrosion is interesting as perhaps he was near the ocean for a good bit. I agree with the others, looks like poor storage conditions got to the helmet; the leather liner chinstrap is fossilized onto the liner and will likely break if moved. Pat Yes it sure does look to be that way. This ones going to reside upside down in the box. I'l check the chinstrap and if it is like you are thinking, I'l leave it alone.
