M7 Bayonet basic info?

When I was still in high school, I found an M7 bayonet in a drawer in my grandfather's garage in Wichita Falls, Texas. Why he had it, I have no idea; he missed Vietnam by getting married right out of college and was never in the military (he has since passed away). His brother, my great uncle, served aboard the USS John F. Kennedy during Vietnam, but in the Med (he bought a Beretta shotgun on shore leave in Italy!). So maybe he got it from a ship-based Marine or something. The markings on the guard are "US M7" and "BOC (or G?)". Can anyone tell me who made it and roughly when it was made? IMG_1261.JPG.c51ebd4d4e7475830e51431fe8aa798d.JPGIMG_1260.jpg.cd61776ff79e30f4de605e7c70206696.jpgIMG_1263.jpg.dee4639eb05ebe4bd5070e84bc53567e.jpgIMG_1270.JPG.e2751e4dd7ffc97c0fcb5c4fdfdf6069.JPGIMG_1273.jpg.678d446c66bdd14a3c70af016dc153fd.jpgIMG_1275.jpg.c3acc2977c786ebfae9b959c8220edcf.jpg

Baur Ordinance Corp. had US contracts in 1969 and 1970.  They made about 2 million of them.  The scabbard was made about the same time.  The PWH stands for Philadelphia Workhome for the Blind.  Yes, they received parts and assembled them in the workhome factory.

Wow! I wouldn't have expected that. Very interesting.

Now I just need to try to figure out why my grandpa had a bayonet in the first place. Maybe it was an impulse buy at a gun show or something. He had a Springfield Trapdoor rifle that I imagine he got the same way.
