2nd? pattern US WWII parachute converted

Came across an interesting item in a local estate today and not quite sure what to make of it. What I believe to be a 2nd pattern parachute. The dimension of the large piece is 66” x 96”.

They are asking $800 for this lot but since it's been modified not sure what it's worth, if anything.

Question: Did cargo and paratroopers use the same parachute pattern?

Thanks!

Pretty cool story. It's a curio thing and IMO of no real collector value - other than, again, a curio with a relation to airborne.

It's like buying a purse made from USMC canvas with UNIS markings that was found on IWO. Pretty cool but not really for anyone but novel purse collectors.

Left original, it would be greatly collectable.

JMO,

Dave
