Militiaman Posted August 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2020 I’m still after a VF-831 Squadron Patch (the slightly earlier version of this one) but after 11 years of looking nearly daily I was finally able to find and acquire a period VF-153 patch. I couldn’t be more pleased. This one is embroidered on felt.
Militiaman Posted August 5, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted August 5, 2020 Based on construction or the marking on the reverse, is anyone able to identify the maker of this patch? I’d grateful for any assistance. Robert
Jeffro Posted August 6, 2020 Share #3 Posted August 6, 2020 Robert, looks US embroidered on felt and early to mid 1950s to me. I can't ID the maker. The moths were very delicate and only ate the outermost blue felt on this patch keeping the overall condition very presentable! If you ever find the earlier version and want to pass this one along, just let me know. Jeffro
Militiaman Posted August 7, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted August 7, 2020 Hello Jeffro, Thank you for your response and information. I’m not sure you’d still want this example as it’s a bit of a restoration. I sacrificed what was left of the outer rim to get the felt needed to repair the mothing. However, It did turn out much more presentable. Here’s some before and after shots.
