Help with a medic bag

I picked up this bag a few months ago and really loved the look. Also it came with a all purpose marine flat buckle strap. 
 

can anyone help with the numbering on it

I'm thinking maybe French or European stenciled.  They have that kind of font you would see on an old French wine barrel.

Not sure, I've seen a lot of post war used bags with French markings, but they have green back drops and or smaller sans-serif fonts. 

 

I'm inclined to think US but other branches (usaaf ground personnel, naval amphibious corpsman or something)

agreed Ken 

 

I would also point more towards corpsman PTO use. It was up as a corpsman bag when i got it.
