My "Operation Varsity" airborne helmet with pea-green Brit net.

Very nice, i was trying to emulate a 17th airborne lid with this one. the net is original, however, not original to this helmet

unfortunately this net is not original to this helmet, but it is original, and has a lot of character. helmet is the one in my icon

does the tag look authentic to you? So many fakes out there. Its def a fixed bail, nice front seam stainless. Stress cracks could be a little more defined.

This came right out of a veterans trunk.

Here are a few others I’ve owned, since gone on to other fellow collectors.

The ultimate score in helmet nets...the sniper veil...I wish I had kept this one, but I know it lives with a very good friend now 👍🏼😉

I've shared this before but here are some of mine. Unfortunately none are original to the helmets but I do believe all are original.

Since this picture I've added a few more nets to the collection including a second knotted two tone net as well as a woven two tone net and another 1/2" British net.

I still need to grab one of the US manufactured shrimp nets and hopefully an original netted helmet at some point.

Hand tied Net on blue - pretty sure this is a PTO helmet and liner. These types can also be seen being worn by marines

Thanks Dean, just something I threw together to get all of my netted helmets in one pic. I'll have to take some pictures of my full display some point soon.

Love that hand tied netted helmet of yours. It's one of my favorite helmets I've seen posted.

Here's my contribution. Net has never been taken off and you can see how it has rusted and fused with the shell.

The Rooster

The Helmet is a WW2 airborne lid with its original straps. Its got Remnants of white stenciled letters on the front with a big Period between

each letter.. The chute is for effect ! lol😀

Its got a mid 50's airborne liner marked 82nd.

And I added the WW2 net. And the old chin Strap to the liner.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here's mine.....Vietnam era shell, WWII era liner, woodland camouflage cover with some sort of netting over that.

When I signed into my first unit on 05 May 1986, this was how this helmet was issued to me in my chem bag. When I left the unit in Jun 1988, I put a Plain Jane M1 helmet (Vietnam era shell and liner) in the bag in its place. This helmet followed me around the rest of my career.

I don't know who had it before me, the strap around the shell is a leg strap from a M17 gas mask carrier and was on there when I got it. The name on the strap is mine.

Old picture, the helmet is packed away, waiting on a my new militaria and gun room. Other Hurricane Michael repairs take priority over that.
