skautdog Posted July 22, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2020 I understand (correctly or incorrectly) that US ammunition cans are painted, in the interior, with a paint specifically developed to protect ammunition. What other materials/objects are safe to store in ammunition cans? TIA!!!

M1Garandy Posted July 22, 2020 Share #3 Posted July 22, 2020 I'm not saying you are incorrect, but I've never heard that before. The interiors don't seem to be painted any differently than the exteriors as far as I can tell.
M422A1 Posted July 22, 2020 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2020 I agree with M1Garandy. I was a 2311 (Ammo Tech) when I was in the Marines and I saw a lot of ammo cans, inside & out, and they appeared to be painted the same, inside & out. This would have been 83-89 timeframe. I would imagine it was a type of epoxy paint because it was quite durable.
