scottplen Posted July 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2020 A recent trade and a PA guy ! a mystery on his Rank ? I figured he was ground crew with PVT Rank but just found AM GO # dated Nov 8 1944 as a SGT . Also Bethlehem PA Library has a searchable database of WWII clippings and I found more info ! So a mistake of rank on burial info ? Or did he get in trouble ? Loss of rank from Nov 8 1944 in 4 days to his death date Nov 12 ? Why was he on ship with ground crew if he was on flying status as a gunner ? KIA by Kamikaze on SS Thomas Nelson with 345th Bomb Group 498th BS . scottplen Posted July 22, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted July 22, 2020 So on nov 8 1944 he was a Sgt according to his AM GO# 293 On Nov 9 he was A PVT and parachute rigger ? And I believe final rank in cemetery if he was not in any trouble would have been SGT .(IMO)
