katieony Posted July 19, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2020 I thought I would share some images of an interesting WW2 USMC 1st MAC PARA Bn. patch that I've had in my collection for a while. The patch itself is Australian manufactured and it is sewn to red wool felt backing aka "blooded". What is interesting about the patch is the material that was used for the red wool felt backing...a WW2 USMC souvenir pennant. These pennants seem to have been popular souvenirs from the Marine's service in Australia and New Zealand. The patch itself has been removed from a uniform. Unfortunately, I have no ID to go along with the patch.

katieony Posted July 20, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted July 20, 2020 I'm glad you like the patch! It is probably my favorite and most interesting WW2 USMC patch.
patrick_usmc Posted July 24, 2020 Share #5 Posted July 24, 2020 That's fantastic. If he had used a part of the pennant without the stamping, we never would have known! A great patch, and a lovely detail about the pennant.
