Cpl. Punishment

Hello all!

I recently had my best yardsale find! A customer came into my work with a small newspaper add for a yardsale which listed, among other things, “WWII”. I decided to stop by the place before the sale started and talk with the people. Turns out, their father, James C o n y e r s, was in the 509th MP Bn. and was present for D-Day (although it sounds as though he was in some sort of anti-aircraft artillery for D-Day), liberated Buchenwald concentration camp, and was a guard at the Potsdam Conference. I believe the German bringbacks in the group were brought back by this gentleman (the Bavarian buckle was brought back by his father in WWI). I also received the belongings of the sellers uncle on the other side of their family. He was in the air corps and was supposedly in the same bomb group as Jimmy Stewart, however, I can find little on this man (James W u e s t 1920-1945). I have all of what is pictured as well as his A-11 flight pants and suspenders. The family is still going through things, and I am still working on getting the 509th MP ike. His campaign ribbon sports an arrowhead and 5 campaign stars, and a nice MP colored 1st Army patch on the right shoulder and a nice English made 1st Allied Airborne patch on the left shoulder.

Will keep you all posted!
This is my first SS item in the collection, and with rock solid provenance from the woodwork, it’s just how I like to find them!

Thanks guys! The family wasn’t going to sell the German buckles, but I asked If they had any German things, and boy am I glad I did!

Old Crow 1986

Great find and nice bonus with the bringbacks.  Gives me hope that I'll find a yard sale treasure someday.  Thanks for sharing!
