Garandy Posted July 19, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2020 I’ve never seen one line this exact construction but it was suggested it’s a civilian contractor helmet but the chin strap attachment is more British as is the liner. I don’t think it’s a US helmet commercially made as I’ve seen those and they are different at least to me. Possibly early 1917-A1 as the liner fits inside as does the 1917-A1 chin strap? Riveted in too from top.
aef1917 Posted July 19, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 19, 2020 It is indeed a civilian helmet.

aef1917 Posted July 21, 2020 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2020 Despite the use of a rivet, it's a civilian chinstrap on a civilian helmet.

Hi Garandy, before you ' flip ' it have you flipped the black headband and looked on the reverse of that, that's where the manufacturers generally stamp their logo. I hope you find something there . . . . . . . . . . regards lewis. .
