US Gold & Blue Epaulettes. What are these?

Mr. Scratch

I'm assuming these are 19th Century US, based on the Federal eagle on the lone surviving button and construction.

Can anyone tell me what I have here?

Hi   Mr . Scratch.
I did a google search for Epauletts and brought up just images of them. There are several similar to yours that come up. Nearly all descriptions attribute them to militia units , some say pre civil war , some say wartime , some say post war and one said 19th century (that covers it pretty well) . So my guess is they are militia , infantry (blue) and pre-civil war to the turn of the century. Hopefully a more knowledgeable forum member will have a better answer for you.   Thanks for posting.  Fraternally Yours Mike
