kammo-man Posted July 21, 2020 Share #51 Posted July 21, 2020 Is there wear to the inside of the helmet where whatever was attached to the liner rubbed against ?Looks like a screw on branch brass might have been there due to the viable rubbing.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk?Dean Care to answer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dean Care to answer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes Owen I do was not with the helmet there Are Marks inside, but also due to the leather chin strap flat buckle it has created a 3mm gap between helmet and liner which has created the gap where the insignia would sit comfortably. Also rubbing down of the actual flat buckle is consistent with the inside of the helmet
ArchangelDM Posted July 21, 2020 Author Share #53 Posted July 21, 2020 Due to the gap it does not sit flush - leaving the gap
ArchangelDM Posted July 21, 2020 Author Share #54 Posted July 21, 2020 The rubbing of the leather chinstrap has eaten into the paint

ArchangelDM Posted July 21, 2020 Author Share #61 Posted July 21, 2020 You can see the shadowing of every knot and piece of netting. The helmet has mud on it still , making the squares where the net has sat all these years
ArchangelDM Posted July 21, 2020 Author Share #62 Posted July 21, 2020 Another shot of the net hanging on showing how stuck it is to the helmet and how long it’s been there. On the broken open pieces you can see where the surface is cleaner due to weather and wear as it has no net to protect it and hold onto its dirt. kammo-man Posted July 21, 2020 Share #63 Posted July 21, 2020 Have you ever seen a helmet missing the net that has the grid literally bleached into the paint ?Not mid but the sun fade effect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not mid but the sun fade effect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If you look at it that’s actually a rust imprint on the missing space But mud, dust, storage wear, a ton of times. Sold a netted helmet here 6 years ago with the same net that had collected a ton of dust over its years in storage, also grime from the garage where it was stored. it’s imprint was on the metal

I would think these would have never been cleaned since being brought back.

Burning Hazard Posted July 23, 2020 Share #70 Posted July 23, 2020 I have a very salty M1 that once had a shrimp net on it; there is a visible grid imprinted all over and on the inside (mostly rust). Can post for reference if needed. Pat

Burning Hazard Posted July 23, 2020 Share #73 Posted July 23, 2020 Here is my helmet, it once had a shrimp net since there are grid marks on the inside and outside. I don't have the helmet on me but this weekend will take some more detailed shots.
