Reading ink stamps on field gear

Is there some magical trick to read faded field gear date and maker stamps? My shovel cover I got for free is almost readable but just can’t quite do it. By the color of the cloth I’d say it’s a 43 or 44 cover.

Discussed previously on the forum, if you use the search feature.

As Steve mentions IR is best I’ve found.

Cap Camouflage Pattern I

I have an old camcorder with a "night-shot" mode, it uses an IR light, really funky stuff, sometimes it does nothing, sometimes it makes invisible markings clear as day, sometimes it makes visible writing (usually from pens, not stamps) completely disappear. If you don't have a camcorder I have heard baby monitors should work too.

Oh I’m sorry I didn’t realize this fourm had the search feature, I tried looking sorry I don’t like to be that kind of guy.

No worries, didn’t mean that to be snarky.  If you search for “sony nightshot”, there should be a handful of topics that you could look at.

Good luck!
