DiGilio Posted January 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2009 I bought this canteen from a former Marine who picked it up from an abandoned enemy position in Kuwait during Desert Storm. Im wondering if anyone knows what country the canteen was originally from, and maybe era? I took pictures of the only markings I could find. Ive never seen anything like the markings and have absolutly no idea, but I really only deal with US Korea-Vietnam militaria.
Mr-X Posted January 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 16, 2009 It is an Iraqi Army marked copy of a British Pattern 1944 canteen, cup and cover. Most likely made in India, Korea or Hong Kong.
The Meatcan Posted January 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 16, 2009 totally agree with Mr X's assessment. Patt 44 made in the Middle East.
DiGilio Posted September 3, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted September 3, 2009 I know this topic is old but I have one more question. What would a canteen like this be worth? Im assuming not too much but Im thinking about trading or selling it since Im shifting all my collecting to Vietnam.
