johnny12550 Posted July 10, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2020 Hi, could this be a Civil War era folding camp chair? I don’t think there are any markings on it. Can a certain style be dated to a certain period? The carpet portion seems to be an very old replacement.
skypilot6670 Posted July 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2020 Hey Johnny. This could very well be a civil war camp chair. These chairs were made and used through the war and I imagine for many years after. My father bought a few of them from a funeral home that was closing , sometime in the 1950s and used them for ice fishing. The funeral home name and manufacture were stamped on the side. I sold the last one at a civil war show to another dealer a couple of years ago. Nice chair for a civil war display. Fraternally yours. johnny12550 Posted July 10, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted July 10, 2020 Thanks for the info. I'll look again to see if there are any markings on the side.
