Mr.Jerry Posted July 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2020 Great Job - who ever she may be! https://www.businessinsider.com/a-soldier-just-became-the-us-armys-first-female-green-beret-2020-7 A female soldier became the US Army's first female Green Beret on Thursday. The National Guard soldier graduated, earned her Special Forces Tab, and earned her Green Beret Thursday at a ceremony at Fort Bragg, North Carolina celebrating her and her classmates completion of Special Forces training. US Army Special Operations Command is withholding identifying information about the woman due to mission security demands for special operations troops. 917601 Posted July 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2020 Not impressed, if like the two Ranger gals who slid through, ( my discussion with a certain General- I will not name him) they were " told" to be sure at least two get the Ranger tab. His take- they will never get any meaningful Ranger leadership assignment- but the tab will ensure high visibility for promotions...The Army has been told awhile back they " need" to have a few high viz woman in the combat arms. Everyone ( those higher ups in the Army) knows it is one big joke, especially this guy.....the joke is on us.

There will always be others who will try to discredit her accomplishments. I hope she ignores the naysayers and achieves her goals in life! May she be a role model to little girls everywhere. ...Kat

rtd_sf_eng Posted December 12, 2020 Share #8 Posted December 12, 2020 She was not the first US Army female soldier to graduated from the Special Forces course. Captain Kathleen Wilder was the first in the early 1980s when she attended the Officer's course. There was a lot of controversy about her admittance to the course and the standards she had which were different to the male students. She apparently received the Special Forces tab when it was authorized on 11 September 1987 the date the Special Forces branch was activated.
