cerick1450 Posted July 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2020 Hello I have a framed grouping to a gentleman who lists his rank in the USAAF as A3C. Is it a tech sergeant rank? Thank you for the help
Justin B. Posted July 8, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2020 A3C is Airman 3rd Class, the USAF E-2 rank from 1952 to 1967.
patches Posted July 8, 2020 Share #3 Posted July 8, 2020 Very peculiar, the rank seen is the 1948 Regulation U.S. Army Non Combat Branch Sergeant First Class, not worn obviously in WWII. This is the grade insignia mention by Justin Airman Third Class, and would be worn starting around 1948 in the new U.S. Air Force.
cerick1450 Posted July 8, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted July 8, 2020 Thank you for the help. I would assume he must have stayed in the service after the war. His family has no idea. His grave marker says A3C US Air Force World War
