USMC Shooting Jacket?

Would anyone have any information on the pictured jacket?  Dad was USMC in Vietnam and grandfather was USMC in WWII and Korea. This was in a trunk of gear in the attic - could be dad's, or could have been grandfather's that dad saved.  There is nothing specifically identifying it as USMC, but since it was with other gear, I'm just assuming.  It might not be USMC at all, but neither of them were recreational shooters outside of the military, so I doubt they bought this on their own for personal use.  The pads are nice thick leather.  Any info at all would be helpful because I have no idea at all right now.

OK, it's been a while and no replies.  Is this obviously not a military issue item, since no markings as such?  Can somebody confirm so I know at least this much about it?

Hello, based on the buckle and the buttons, I would say a 1920-30's era civilian marksman or shooting jacket. Not uncommon to find in USMC groups as these civilian made shooting jackets were favored by some match participants.
