David B Posted July 4, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2020 Hi, This helmet has been sent to a friend of mine who has been tasked to sell it on consignment. First he would like to make sure if it's all correct or not. What do you guys think, is it OK or has it been enhanced? Many thanks in advance. Persian Gulf Command Posted July 4, 2020 Share #4 Posted July 4, 2020 I can tell you that the Inland Airborne Liner is original.
sgtdorango Posted July 4, 2020 Share #5 Posted July 4, 2020 I agree the inland para liner looks original from those pics but the shell and paint job is extremely questionable....mike

David B Posted July 4, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted July 4, 2020 Thanks for the replies so far guys. So the liner is ok but the shell isn't, what about the chin strap etc? What makes the shell fake? Sorry for the questions but I know absolutely nothing about lids, so am just trying to learn.
ArchangelDM Posted July 4, 2020 Share #9 Posted July 4, 2020 Leather chinstrap is a reproduction and the paint looks really off, the officers stripe on the back could be a runway ! Insignia is not correct, I'm thinking An old reproduction as the inland liner looks good - Dean
David B Posted July 4, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted July 4, 2020 Thanks all again. Strange putting an original liner into a fake shell, are original shells hard to acquire?

David B Posted July 4, 2020 Author Share #12 Posted July 4, 2020 Ah I see, thank you. So the only part that's original is the liner, which is scarce. Any idea how much the liner is potentially worth?

Burning Hazard Posted July 5, 2020 Share #15 Posted July 5, 2020 The D-bails have wrong feet which is a dead giveaway that they're reproductions Shell OD3 chinstraps look like reproductions as well Shell markings are artificially aged repros Leather liner chinstrap is Euro clone Leather chin cup looks like Navy talker type Only gem in there is the original Inland jump liner that's in super+ condition. Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted July 5, 2020 Share #16 Posted July 5, 2020 IF the shell was really it would be in the ballpark of $2000, IF the painted markings were real, the sky is the limit. Originals essentially don't exist and 2/506th is one of if not the most widely desired US helmets in the world.
David B Posted July 5, 2020 Author Share #17 Posted July 5, 2020 Brilliant, thank you all for taking the time to look over the helmet..I really do appreciate it! At least it's not all bad and the liner is an original. Thanks again!
