I was reading on a thread about the new breed of replica Westinghouse Camo liner replicas Coming on the market, Owen (Kammo man) had mentioned them early on but I had yet to see one.
Until earlier this morning on eBay !

These have to be the scariest thing I’ve seen in a while, add a little wear to it and it’s extremely dangerous territory.

Why they aren’t marked replica is beyond me ,

I would advise all USMC collectors to have a good look at these.

ebay number : 203037283097

I saw this as well in the "wee hours" of this morning.  I almost jumped and pressed the BIN option.  The only indicator is the shape of the templates used to apply the camo spray.  otherwise the colors are very accurate and yes meant to deceive.  All be it that the description states its a mimic.

Isn’t the combined Capac Westinghouse maker mark post war?

Correct

Surely a cheaper buy for the artist !

Is the seller advertising it as original?

no as a replica,

unfortunately as stated earlier some unscrupulous sellers I’m sure will add a little wear and will start to sell as originals.
Also just to clarify, I feel the liners should be marked inside “Replica” as to help future buyers

just keeping ahead of the curve

Fear not. The original liners' camouflage template consists of two green tones and one rust-brown tone, applied over the liner's standard olive drab paint via a stencil. These reproductions have three green tones, not to mention the shapes are different.

And a novice should be able to see it’s the wrong liner.

I think the new collectors would struggle if they did not have originals to hand. I can see the differences as pointed out but they are slight and the untrained eye might not see them

I'm not familiar with what they are copying, but the replica just looks cheap to me, like a toy helmet paint job.

Seems to me that using an obviously post-WWII liner is just as effective as putting "replica" somewhere inside.

knowledge is power

information is key !

let’s hope that the new collectors out that get to this page.

Also we all know what’s wrong with it - the page and thread is for people that might not.

What is the liner like?

It looks fake to me.

If they start using the right liner and ditch the 3rd green color we might be in trouble.

You’re right about the way it looks.

Could be the bad picture is distorting it.

Yeah picture is not the greatest and it’s also been resized for here.

I’ll try and add the full link - looks a lot better on eBay

Honestly Dean, you did not say that this was for the inexperienced collector or those who might not know. It is informational for all of us and AEF1917 was just pointing out why there was no reason for it being marked "reproduction" since the double stamp is an obvious post war production thing.

This is more of question about the real ones- did Marines get them?  Every photo I have seen of them in use was an Army unit.
