mortaydc60 Posted July 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2020 This is currently listed on Ebay but does not look like example Rick has shown. Is this a good copy or a variation?
walika Posted July 1, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 1, 2020 I don't think it is an original. The tan fabric is the give away, and the embroidery looks newer vintage. Activated in 1942, Deactivated 1945. The embroidered on wool issue was first, followed by the decal on leather.
mortaydc60 Posted July 1, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted July 1, 2020 I kind of thought so, but wanted to hear from a more informed opinion. Seller has had some questionable items listed before so posted as a caution for the forum.
ocsfollowme Posted July 1, 2020 Share #4 Posted July 1, 2020 Seller ( lots-of-good-stuff ) constantly sells reproductions as originals. I would not touch anything of his with a 20 ft pole. https://www.ebay.com/usr/lots-of-good-stuff

walika Posted July 4, 2020 Share #6 Posted July 4, 2020 Comparison of genuine WWII issue and the reproduction shown above. My original post here. Australian embroidered on wool patches typically have a thick wool and rich, deep embroidery.
Wake1941 Posted July 4, 2020 Share #7 Posted July 4, 2020 The edge material is all wrong, probably one of the Butler UK series fake
walika Posted July 4, 2020 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2020 Exactly. The thin tan material substituted for the thick Australian wool is a tell.
