Fixbayonets! Posted June 23, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2020 This is the top tray view of a WWII USMC foot locker. The grouping to this Marine is contained inside and is all original to the foot locker. I bought this group direct from the veteran's family and was surprised to see the pinup still held in place on the inside lid. The tape is old and dried out but is still doing it's job! The Rooster Posted August 2, 2020 Share #10 Posted August 2, 2020 That Leather helmet is a navy Blast helmet worn under the talker helmet. Just an FYI in case you thought it was a flight helmet. Awesome footlocker.

So he was an aircraft mechanic in WW2, working on R5C-1 Curtiss "Commando" twin engine transport planes, but not an aircrewman.

As far as I can tell that is correct. With the flight suit and heavily worn leather helmet I assume he may have seen flight time in some aspect but not positive.
