Greetings all.

I recently picked up a second copy of Clipped Wings. First Edition 1948.

You are correct about William Cato Epps being a POW.  He was a B-17 pilot with the 15th Air Force, 301st Group, 32nd Squadron and his plane was attacked on 25 Feb 1944 by fighters and crashed.  Lt. Epps and all his crew were taken prisoner.

Matt, Thank you for the information.

Looks like the other name is his Mother.

He was wounded in the head and back and died at 48 years old.

Of a heart attack. Poor guy. Thank you for finding him.

You're welcome Dave.  Yes, the other name is William's Mother and her address.  Too bad he died so young.  Poor guy indeed.

Draft card signature at age 20 and the signature in the book ? some time after 1948....

He died at 48 years of age...

Signature could have changed over the years ?

Maybe I got clipped ?
