hink441 Posted June 18, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2020 I recently obtained this originally configured 1863 Sharps carbine. Serial number C4094. Price was right and condition is okay, not great. I am happy with this one and have wanted one for a long time.

sundance Posted June 19, 2020 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2020 I'd love to get my hands on one of those. I'd be perfectly happy with one in that condition.

Frank I have a small collection of Civil War pieces. Mostly a few cannon balls, belt plates, and swords. Chris
hink441 Posted June 19, 2020 Author Share #10 Posted June 19, 2020 Thank you, I have found the serial number range. Of course this doesn’t prove the whereabouts of my carbine, but there were many around mine that were assigned to the 1st Maryland Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry Company A. Story Posted July 25, 2022 Share #11 Posted July 25, 2022 Figured I'd join in on the Sharp's fun - M1859 Carbine, cal .54 manufactured 1861 with a serial number just under 60,000. This one escaped the post-war conversion to .50-70. Never got a chance to fire it, although there's no reason not to - got 25 bullets, caps and powder but haven't had the time to roll cartridges for it. Circumstantial evidence that this may have been issued to Company I, 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry (tale comes free with purchase).

manayunkman Posted August 24, 2022 Share #16 Posted August 24, 2022 Sharps carbine is also fun to shoot. Back in the 1970s we would go to the Arizona desert and shoot black powder. Some fun times
