Fford058 Posted June 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2020 I just picked up this M1 from a local antique store, they had no info for it and I'm new to to collecting, just curious about the year it was manufactured if anyone could help it would be appreciated. BTW the heat stamp reads -9085
huntssurplus Posted June 16, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2020 I believe this is a 70s produced helmet. Can’t remember the manufacturer, but they were the last run of m1s.HuntSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I am an amateur collector of US military items of the 20th century. I think that's it, looking at the photo of the heat stamp, it looks like there might be a "1" or "I" before the dash, leading me to believe this isn't the final post-vietnam produced helmets, but rather an earlier production run of helmets in the mid 60's I believe. I need to check my reference for post-war heat stamps, but I believe the final run of M1's did not have any sort of dash or letter preceding the number, but rather it was simply three-four numbers, usually in a smaller font than that of other heat stamps from earlier productions.
