Cavalry collar discs, but from when?

Recommended Posts

I used to collect cavalry items from Troop A 5th US Cavalry, and am now clearing the collection, slowly.  I have these two discs that I have had since the 1970s and I suspect they are from a between the wars era.  Any thoughts?

The gilded is 1920’s. Blackened should be WWI. Perhaps theater made, I’m not sure.
