Agreed, post-WW2 used though with the U.S. Army tape. Probably 60's era.

Responses are much appreciated guys. The M43 is the late war issue field jacket, correct? So when you say probably 60s era, does this mean the jacket was produced/issued during the 1960s or made during the Second World War but used in the 1960s?

Thanks

M-43 was “officially” superseded by the short lived M-50, then the M-51 and then the M-65.  Stuff stayed in the system for awhile however.  Your jacket was probably made sometime prior to the M-51 (c1951) but was in use until the 1960s to acquire the ‘60s era name tape.  The M-43 and M-51 were very similar and only differed in detail.

The jacket is most likely manufactured 1944-1949, but, the "U.S. Army" tape dates to the 1960's. Therefore, while it was manufactured in the WW2/Immediate post-war era, it was most likely either first issued, or reissued in the 60's. It was very common for the WW2 manufactured M43's to continue to be issued for decades after as its construction is very similar to the m50/m51 as mentioned by the previous member. I'm guessing this was worn right around the time the M65 came out.
