Was this kapok sleeping bag ever an issue item?

I was given this kapok sleeping bag- the person who gave it to me thought it was military and said that they had gotten it over 50years ago from a Korean War vet. The bag it was packed in is marked

Capt. Kemske

O-313472

5614-C

It has a military look to it, but the tags look very civilian and it is devoid of any military markings/dates.  I am leaning toward not being an issue item, but given the carry bag and my lack of knowledge in this area I thought I’d ask.  Also if anyone knows what the numbers mean on the bag, or has any info on the vet I would be interested. Thanks for you help.

Officers could buy their own gear. This is just another example of a wartime private purchased item. I own several like it.

The Rooster

The number below his name is his service number. It can be looked up.

teh O at the begining stands for Officer.

5614-C Not sure ? Could be unit marking ?

Might be..

Capt Harry F Kemske artillery  ????

Retired as a colonel.

Someone who could look up that number could verify that or shoot it down.

If it came from someone in Delaware or near there This could be your Man.

Thanks for the lead- I figured the first number was a service number- is there an accessible database to look these up?  This most recently came out of NY, but not sure where it was before that.

Thanks for the replies- between what I learned here and some googling this morning here is what I have compiled-

Allan F. Kemske

Army Coastal Artillery Corps

enlisted 14 Nov 1934

Captain 12 Feb 1941

Major 3 May 1943

Lt. Col 28 Jan 1946

possibly assigned to 2nd Battalion 64th Coastal Artillery Regiment Camp Edwards Massachusetts 1942-1944.

So he must have had/marked this bag between Feb 1941 and May 1943.
