ponyradish Posted May 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2020 Here is a nice WW1 bringback but I cannot figure out what Country the Soldier was that made it. I figured it is not Russian. Maybe French? can anyone help on this one? Thanks in advance, Pony.
bertmedals Posted May 27, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2020 Looks Greek to me (no, seriously). Also, the caricature bears a resemblance to one of the Greek wartime prime ministers, Elefthérios Kyriákou Venizélos.

GatorDoc Posted May 27, 2020 Share #5 Posted May 27, 2020 Definitely Greek. Bertmedals is correct. Top word is ΒΕΝΙΖΕΛΟ translating as VENIZELO The word directly before 1918 is ΠΟΛΕΜΟΥ( polemou) and translates to "war" in English. Post a clear picture of the word proceeding that if you will. ponyradish Posted May 28, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted May 28, 2020 I just found a Greek trench art shell that went through an auction and sold for $800.00. I think the one I have is even nicer. Pony.
