Dave Posted May 25, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2020 Sometimes interesting things pop up on eBay. Today, a seller is offering a non-script engraved WIA Purple Heart with a postmark date of August 1947. Since we don't know exactly when the PQMD switched from hand engraving to script engraving other than "sometime in late 1947" this is an interesting benchmark to show that hand-engraved block letter awards were still being sent out as late as mid-August. A nice example for the sake of reference. Dave

Wharfmaster Posted May 25, 2020 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2020 Well, that's interesting. Here is a script engraved PH to a WW1 Vet, awarded 9 March 1949. Confirmed on the Award Card. Last year for script. Mc Nary was wounded 7 Oct. 1918. Wharf
