MinorInHistory Posted May 24, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2020 This canteen cover was a barn find for me, and I have not been able to find out what the marking on the front means. If anyone knows what it means, it would be a big help.

huntssurplus Posted May 24, 2020 Share #3 Posted May 24, 2020 What do the words under the star say? Looks like an M in white and then some other stuff? Looks like it might be post war, backyard war kinda marking. Hunt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MinorInHistory Posted May 26, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted May 26, 2020 Yes, I was thinking that it could be some type of non-military organization like the Boy Scouts or the Civil Air Patrol. To answer your question, the markings say "M.C.” I thought that it might be some representation of the Army Air Corps symbol, thus the C.A.P. theory. When I found the canteen, the cup was 1918 dated and the canteen was either 1942 or 1943. Since the cover is post war, it makes me think that it was surplus used by an organization
