m1ashooter Posted May 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2020 I've searched all over and cant' find the answer to my problem. I have a few bales to reattach. I tried JB weld and t didn't hold up. I don't have a way to weld them back on and was thinking about trying to silver soder them on. Does anyone have suggestions?
72psb Posted May 21, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 21, 2020 Sliver solder would work if you can concentrate the heat. The helmet will act as a heatsink and take the heat away from spot where you want it.Any solder or brazing will destroy the paint.Flux is the key to getting a good joint. You must read it and know when to apply the solder. There are heat pastes that can help with the heat travelling. Good luck.
m1ashooter Posted May 22, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted May 22, 2020 Thanks. I discovered what you mentioned in your reply this afternoon. Two failed attempts but at least I got a new propane torch. The lids are RJ Stampings so its ok if the paint gets messed up.
