My speciality is WW2 Aviation grouping for Alabamians. Ensign Smith won his wings in August 1944 but was stuck with VPB 61 on Washington State until the war in the Pacific ended. In November 1945 he was transferred to the Philippines when he stayed for another year. I have copies of his flight log book.

Don’t think many have viewed this. I posted just before the Forum went off line for a day or two. This is the only WW2 Naval Aviator grouping from Alabama I have found in 30 years of collecting. I do have two Marine Corp Aviator grouping. The AAF fighter pilots are also hard to find.
