oakleaf777 Posted May 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2020 Over the years I’ve read a decent amount of first-hand accounts by American and German Veterans of their experiences as ordinary soldiers during the Second World War. I have never found a single first-hand account by a Japanese veteran of WWII. Is anyone aware of any books like this? Thanks
M422A1 Posted May 15, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2020 The only one I know of is Kamikaze by Yasuo Kuwahara and Gordon T. Allred. Not a soldier but a pilot...
Old Marine Posted May 15, 2020 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2020 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/642954.Tales_By_Japanese_Soldiers "Tales by Japanese Soldiers" by Kazuo Tamayama. I read this a few years ago. The stories are mainly from Japanese soldiers in Burma. But it was pretty interesting to see the war from the Japanese Solider's point of view. cperkins510 Posted May 16, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 16, 2020 “No Surrender” by Hiroo Onoda. He fought in the Philippines and refused to surrender until the 1970s.
