This is my only local issued service medal for Kansas that was in the Spanish American War.  The medal is from La Cygne, Kansas. The town had a big reception on the 14 Nov. 1899 for their veterans. The city gave out 7 medals. Here are the names of the soldiers that received the medals.

George Hudson, Isaiah Ruck, Frank Hopkins, John Weber, Iram J. Husom and John Williamson they were in the 20th Kansas and Jonah P. Woods he was in troop C, 9th cavalry which fought in Cuba. I do not know how many towns had medals made for veterans. I know that Lawrence Kansas made a medal. If anybody know of other medal made, please post it.lcm1.jpg.525e4fb02547342333cc9af5e0730881.jpglcm.jpg.ab520fcfc7e7238f66ead268703dd672.jpg

Isn’t there a Coffeyville medal?  Kind of a celluloid button suspended from a ribbon.  I’ve got a picture somewhere...

Also there is a welcome home ribbon from Dodge City Kansas. Here is a scan of the Coffeyville celluloid button.

a scan of the Dodge City welcome home ribbon. I wish I could read the name in the top bar, faded out.wh2.jpg.19f3a809831417ee0608becaa884f2fd.jpg
